Shropshire Women in Dairy – Heat: Fertility and Feet

July 23 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

As summer temperatures rise, managing the hidden costs of heat stress becomes critical to maintaining long-term herd profitability and welfare.

Led by guest speakers Dr. Rosie Armstrong and Olivia Edgerton of Advanced Ruminant Nutrition, this session will look beyond immediate milk drops to examine the deeper, multi-generational impacts of heat stress on dairy cattle.

The discussion will focus heavily on two major bottlenecks to herd longevity: the compounding effects of heat on reproductive efficiency and fertility, and its direct link to increased claw lesions, compromised mobility, and lameness.

Attendees will walk away with practical, data-driven management and nutritional strategies to shield their herds from the long-term cycle of seasonal stress.

Arrival from 10.30 to begin discussion at 11.00. First-time attendance is free; thereafter, a WID/RABDF membership is required.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
