The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers has called for processors to act responsibly towards farmers who find themselves without a milk buyer.
“We are picking up a number of horror stories of dairy producers who for various reasons find they no longer have a contract. Quite frankly they’re stuck,” says RABDF chairman, Ian Macalpine.
“We live in the real world and fully accept that a contract is a contract which has to be respected; we also equally understand the realities of the marketplace, however we urge all processors to be lenient and act sympathetically to these producers whether they have 70 or 700 cows."
