Join us for a webinar with Piers Badnell, LIC to discuss how you maintain productivity from grazing over the summer.
Maintaining productivity from pasture through the summer
• Milk from grass in April & May is relatively easy but can drop off as the spring gives way to summer
• Where does it go wrong?
• If we can identify the reasons it goes wrong we can then manage to get it right
• It comes down to biology and climate – a lot of this is understanding the plant and adapting management to what it wants to do and what we want it to do….
• Mistakes do happen, so what do we do to correct these mistakes
• Why is this important? – Increasingly buyers require grazing, there is a very strong relationship between cost of production and profit and grazing done well will reduce cost of production, so how do we unlock this potential and satisfy our buyers and our pockets?
• The 2021 grazing season starts in August with planning and now is the time to build towards this
• Grazing is a virtuous circle, get one bit right and that helps the next which then helps the next etc. etc. – Get on that virtuous circle
Piers will give a short presentation followed by a Q&A session led by RABDF Vice-Chair Robert Craig. Please send any questions during the webinar via the chat function. We expect this session to last 45 minutes.
Once you register the Zoom link will be sent to you. This session will be recorded and be available to watch online afterwards.
