The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers has announced MSD Animal Health as the new sponsor for its annual RABDF Dairy Student of the Year award.
MSD Animal Health’s support will enable the continuity of RABDF’s prestigious award with £2,000 at stake for the overall winner and a further £1,000 to the winner’s college or university towards an educational dairying project. Entrants will be required to complete a case study essay whilst up to six shortlisted finalists will make a formal presentation in London in March. The 2015 award attracted essays from 31 students.
MSD Animal Health’s Nicki Glen commented: “We are delighted to be partnering this award. We see this as an opportunity to interact positively with the dairy farmers of the future, to encourage progressive thinking and training specifically in the areas of herd health, disease prevention and responsible use of animal medicines. With our strong dairy herd health product portfolio, including a comprehensive range of mastitis prevention and treatment solutions, we hope this year’s entrants will give due priority to health and welfare as a key driver in business profitability. We hope for widespread participation by colleges and students and wish all entrants to this year’s award the very best of luck.”
RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington said: “Rewarding success and achievement, and promoting career opportunities in the dairy sector are key activities for our association. We are delighted MSD Animal Health has agreed to support our award which helps to identify some of the most intelligent and highly motivated young producers who we are confident will help to secure the future for British dairy farming.”
