RABDF pays tribute to Peter Lloyd

Peter Lloyd was known and recognised by so many within the industry and played an integral role when it came to RABDF events.

Peter started work for the RASE when they decided to make Stoneleigh showground a permanent site in 1963. From this came his involvement with the RABDF in the late 1970s/early 1980s when the then Dairy Show made the move from Yorkshire Showground to Stoneleigh Park.

His role was to oversee all things related to the livestock operations at the show which presented in a whole host of different ways. Whilst he headed up the cattle logistics on site he also played a huge role when it came to implementing temporary infrastructure on site such as cattle stalls and show rings. He also provided straw, troughs and bins to site and emptied out cattle stalls as required.

Without Peter the event would have been completely different – his commitment and hard work were testament to the shows success and the whole organisation hold the fondest memories of his time working alongside them.

Anyone that knew him would recognise the all too familiar figure of him on site riding round on his bicycle wearing his trilby hat with a walkie talkie in hand!

Peter passed away peacefully in hospital earlier this month and our thoughts are with his wife Molly, his children and direct family. A small funeral service will be held to celebrate his life at 2pm at All Saints Church, Harbury on 1 July followed by a small wake at The Crown Pub.
