Note from Hayley - January 2025

I write this update fresh on the back of conference season, where I was able to hear the Secretary of State, Steve Reed, set out his priorities for farming in the year ahead – including kick-starting a new Food Strategy that he is keen to collaborate on, the announcement that legislation for new precision breeding regulations will be laid before Parliament by the end of March, and the commitment to increase public procurement of British produce.

Semex followed straight after, with an entertaining and invigorating dairy focused agenda that brought together hearts and minds on the big issues impacting the sector. Always a great opportunity to network with the great and the good from the industry, where farmers and their representatives rub shoulders over a haggis and gauge the dairy sector’s prospects for 2025.

Back on home turf, and Dairy Tech is coming…we are just weeks away now from opening the doors on the largest showcase of technology and innovation available to dairy farmers in the country. I’ve only ever been to the show as a delegate before now, and am looking forward to seeing the buildup – quite literally – as our exhibitors begin to set up and prepare for one of the busiest days of business in the year.

This year the show has more exhibitors than ever before and the team are hard at work readying for the thousands of dairy farmers from across the UK and beyond that will pass through its doors on Wednesday 5th February.

Every year we convene an impressive lineup of speakers to share their perspectives, insights and expertise with dairy farmers for one day only. The Hub is always a lively affair with sessions and debates that will get people talking.

Be sure to make time in your day to join us on the Hub for the presentation of this year’s Student Award, Innovation Award, and the pinnacle of elite dairy performance, the Gold Cup.

Dairy Tech has come a long way since the days of Olympia, where the Dairy Show was held for almost 100 years, and evolved into something truly remarkable.

RABDF launched Dairy Tech to place the greatest technology from every industry at dairy farmers’ fingertips. To lead, to inspire, to bring people together, and to help dairy farmers be their absolute best.

Tickets are available to purchase now. I look forward to seeing you there, and to seeing where this year’s show takes you
