Three dairy breeds will be staging their national shows at Livestock Event to be held at The NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 July. Ayrshire, Brown Swiss and British Friesian cattle societies have each confirmed they will be holding their annual showcase at the UK’s largest trade event within the livestock sector.
The three national shows will be among six different breeds featured within the National Dairy Show, once again sponsored by Zoetis and offering 300 stall places in total.
“We’ve chosen to stage the National Ayrshire Show at Livestock Event for a number of reasons all based on previous experience,” says the society’s Duncan Hunter. “Exhibitors will enjoy the best facilities possible for their cows’ welfare - a climate controlled building with excellent milking, washing and clipping facilities and a great platform to promote their herds.
“What’s more, The NEC provides the best transport links in the UK. The venue is easily accessed via road, rail or by air and thereby will attract visitors from all over the UK and overseas. In fact international visitors attending the 2014 show and witnessing the quality of Ayrshires have already spread the word around their own countries that we have great cows here in the UK,” he says adding “Ayrshire exhibitors will again be assisted by our very talented young breeders to put on another brilliant show.”
Livestock Event director, Matt Knight comments: “We are delighted that these three breed societies have committed to holding their showcase events at Livestock Event. Our Livestock Hall has proven to be the hub of the event, and will provide an opportunity for each of these three national shows to continue to raise their breed profile and build on previous success. Furthermore, they will go a long way towards meeting our visitor requests for more livestock and cementing Livestock Event as the flagship show in the UK”
